The Newton (IA) Record Thursday, May 25, 1899
Death of Mrs. Kingma
Kingma, Mrs. A. G.

Mrs. A. G. Kingma died at her home near Sully, about three o’clock on the morning of Friday, May 19th, age nearly fifty-four years. Mrs. K. was only ill about a week and her sudden death came as a crushing blow to her husband and children who were so unexpectedly bereft of a loving companion and affectionate mother leaving their happy home darkened by the great sorrow caused by her death.

Mrs. Kingma was born in Holland Freesland, June 10, 1845, where she was united in marriage to her now bereaved husband about thirty years ago. They emigrated to America fourteen years ago landing on the 23rd of May 1885. They first settled near Pella, where they remained for a year and then moved to the present home near Sully. Mrs. Kingma was a woman of excellent qualities, kind and obliging, and was highly respected by everybody. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons and three daughters, all unmarried except one daughter, Mrs. Wm. Dilleman.

The funeral services were held in the Holland Church of Sully on Saturday afternoon and one o’clock, conducted by Rev. Van der Meide, and attended by a large number of sympathizing friends and neighbors. The following card of thanks was sent us for publication:

“We are called to mourn the death of our dear beloved wife and mother at the age of 54 years, after a painful sickness of about one week. Fully 30 years we had a pleasant and joyful life together, and now she is gone to eternal life. Very painful is the parting of so dear a wife and mother. A. G. Kingma and children.”.
