TILLIE O. KEESE FORMER NEWBURG RESIDENT DIES
Tillie O. Keese (nee Tostenson)A former Newburg resident, Mrs. Tillie O. Keese, 83, of Albion, died Sunday afternoon at a Marshalltown nursing home where she had been a patient for the past three years.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Estel-Perrin funeral home in Marshalltown with the Rev. Norval Smith, pastor of the Friends church, officiating. Burial will be in the Green Mountain cemetery.
The daughter of Ole and Anna Thorson Tostenson, she was born August 16, 1882, in the Dillon community and received her education in the schools of that area. She also attended the Stavanger boarding school.
On March 8, 1911, she was united in marriage with Alfred R. Keese and they farmed in the Green Mountain area until 1922 when they moved to the Newburg community to farm. They moved to Albion in 1941.
Mr. Keese died in 1959. Also preceding her in death were three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include four children: Omer Keese of Rte. 1, Marshalltown; Alfred Keese and Mrs. Glen (Olive) Strand, both of Rte. 3, Grinnell; and Rodney Keese of Des Moines. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Halverson of Gilman.
