PATRICK KEENAN FUNERAL SERVICES HERE TUESDAY
Patrick H. Keenan

Patrick H. Keenan, Rte. 2, Grinnell, died Friday morning at the Veterans Administration hospital in Iowa City where he had been a patient for 10 days.

Funeral services were to be held Tuesday afternoon from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Roland M. Wendell, minister of the Chester and Newburg Congregational churches, officiating. Organ music was to be furnished by Mrs. Don Renaud, with vocal music by Mr. and Mrs. Warren Louden.

Serving as flower bearers were Mrs. John Barker and Mrs. Mabel Harrison. Pallbearers were James Anderson, Royce Banghart, Duane Altemeier, Doyle Altemeier, Clyde Altemeier, and Dale Anderson. Burial was to be in Rock Creek Cemetery.

He was the son of James and Mary Powers Keenan, and was born in Rock Creek township in Jasper county on Dec. 7, 1886. He attended the local rural schools near the family farm home and served his country with the armed forces in World War I.

On March 9, 1921, he was united in marriage with Gertrude Anderson in Newton. To this union four children were born: Hollis P. Keenan of Grinnell, Kenneth Keenan of Gilman, Darrell Keenan of Grinnell, and Mrs. Verlin (Donna Vee) McAllister of Whitten.

Mr. Keenan farmed all of his life in the Grinnell and Kellogg areas. He is survived by his widow Gertrude at the family home, his four children, and 12 grandchildren. Also surviving are two bothers, Carl Keenan of Earl Moline, Ill., and William Keenan.
