Two Deaths at Monroe

There were two deaths of well-known citizens of Monroe on New Year’s Day ­ Robert Johnston and Jesse Estle.

Mr. Johnston was about fifty-five years of age and had been a prominent citizen of the town for many years. He was unmarried, his mother and himself keeping house together. He had been active in business and accumulated a fair amount of this world’s goods.

For the past three or four months he had been in failing health, and his death was not unexpected although a great shock to his friends.
