Mrs. Nancy Iske Dies at 88 Years
Funeral Services Will Be Held in Newton Tuesday Afternoon

OAK RIDGE: Mrs. Nancy Ann Iske, 88, long-time resident of Jasper County died Sunday at 1:00 PM at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Glen Hesson, northwest of Newton.

Mrs. Iske, who suffered a fractured arm in a fall over a week ago, died as the result of a heart attack.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 PM from the Morgan funeral home and interment will be in the Newton Union cemetery.

BORN IN ILLINOIS
Nancy Ann Bridges Iske, daughter of Perry and Martha Bridges was born November 24, 1848 at Springfield, Ill. and came to Jasper County, IA. the following summer with her parents. The parents took up a claim northwest of Newton and the farm has remained in the family in succeeding years. It is now occupied by a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Hesson.

Her father died when she was four years old and her mother's death occurred in 1902. Two sisters died in infancy and several half-brothers and half-sisters also preceeded her in death.

MARRIAGE
She was united in marriage to William Iske in 1869 and to this union 10 children were born. Her husband, who died in 1908, and three children, William, Charles, and Mrs. Caroline Scheel, preceeded her in death.

She was united with the Methodist Church early in life.

Surviving relatives are two sons, David Iske of Laurel and Laurn Iske of near Newton; five daughters, Mrs. Sophia Mathers, Mrs. Fred Tiedje, Mrs. J. C. Bair, Mrs. W.O. Hesson and Mrs. Glen Hesson, all of near Newton; thirty three grandchildren and a cousin, Mrs. Robert Linder, Newton, who was raised in her mother's home from infancy.

Mrs. Iske's body will be taken to the Laurn Iske farm, her old home, some time Monday.
