FUNERAL SERVICES HELD TODAY FOR MRS. TILFORD INNIS

Mrs. Tilford (Mary Elizabeth) Innis, 69, of 616 State Street, died Friday evening at a local hospital following failing health of the last three weeks.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Monday) from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Myron Harris, pastor of the Northside Friends church, officiating. Music was provided by Delbert Elliott and Mrs. Eldon Speas, vocalists, and Mrs. Leotus Williamson, organist. Assisting with flowers were Mrs. Frances Williams, Mrs. Delbert Elliott and Mrs. Fred Martin. Pallbearers were Raymond Innis, Floyd Innis, Virgil Innis, Clarence Innis, Everett Innis and Russell Koger.

Burial was in the family lot at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Born Sept. 23rd, 1896, at Mt. Pisgah, Ky., she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Hurt Koger. At an early age, she moved with her family to Missouri where she received her early education.

On Sept. 14th, 1914, she was united in marriage with Tilford Bell Innis. To this union nine children were born, seven of whom survived: Harold Everett Innis of Philadelphia, Pa.; Mrs. Milton (Ruth) Burr of Grinnell; Mrs. Robert (Mary) Butler of Newton; Mrs. Ralph (Berneice) Williams of Barnes City; Charles William Innis of Albion; Tilford Bell Innis Jr. of Grinnell; and Mrs. Delbert (Rachel) Crawford of Grinnell. In addition to her sons and daughters, Mrs. Innis is survived by her husband, Tilford; 32 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Crisan Innis of Grinnell and Mrs. Hattie Sherwood of St. Joseph, Mo.; and three brothers, Louis Koger of Newburg, General and Albert Koger, both of California.

Also surviving are several half-bothers and half-sisters, James, Elmer, Leonard, Vela and Nannie Koger; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Russell Eugene Innis in 1963; one daughter Hazel Lorene Innis in 1950; five brothers, Austen, Isaac, John, Oda and Giles Koger; and two half-sisters, Maude and Tessie Koger.

Mrs. Innis had moved to Iowa from Missouri 51 years ago. she had been employed for many years with the Grinnell Shoe Company as a finisher.

She was a longtime member of the Grinnell Northside Friends church.
