Francis C. Fowles was born in Jasper county, Iowa, January 27, 1876, and died at the family residence in Jasper county, Iowa, June 12, 1906. At the time of his death he was 30 years, 4 months and 16 days old. Francis died on the farm where he was born and where he spent his entire young life. His death was due to heart failure and was very sudden. He was the fourth child of Dexter and Jennie Fowles. He leaves one brother, Wilbur and four sisters, Addie P., Ida B., Maude E. and Hattie M., to greatly mourn his early death.
The funeral services were conducted from the family residence and were in charge of Rev. E. H. Fleisher, of Colfax. The interment was in the family burial ground in the Rorabaugh cemetery by the side of his father.
