Mr. John Rush, for 40 years a resident of this vicinity, died at his late home in West Mound Prairie township at 5 a.m., Tuesday, July 25th, from the effects of heat prostration sometime in June. Mr. Rush had been in poor health for several years but had only been bedfast since being prostrated by the heat. He was a veteran of the Civil war and was 86 years old last February. He is survived by his wife and one of the two sons born to them, and is mourned by the entire community in which he has been an honored citizen for so many years. Funeral services were from the home at 2 p.m., Wednesday, conducted by Rev. ReQua, of the M.E. church. Interment at Slaughter’s cemetery.
