After a fortnight’s illness following prostration with a paralytic attack, William Winpiggler died at Soldiers’ Home in Marshalltown last Sunday at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 9 days, and his body was brought to Colfax the following day for the funeral. This was conducted by Rev. Evans, of the Baptist church, under the auspices of the local G.A.R. Post, and interment was at the Slaughter cemetery where his wife and three children are buried. Mr. Winpiggler was a member of the 48th Iowa, one of the last regiments raised for the Union Army. Until he secured quarters at the Soldiers’ Home two years ago, he was a resident of Colfax, where his sons, Barney and Leroy still reside. These latter are the fruits of his last marriage, and he is the father of six living children by his first wife. Mr. Winpiggler was a good man and his life, to the good old age was without reproach.
