Flora M. Hedges Died in California
Hedges, Flora M. (Wright)

Mrs. Flora M. Hedges, 82, died Thursday, Dec. 11th at the Los Angeles County General hospital at Los Angeles, California. She had gone to California to visit a friend about a month ago and was stricken with a heart attack suddenly, and it was feared then the end had come. However, she rallied from that attack, but failed to gain in strength from then on, being in the hospital 11 days before death came.

Mrs. Hedges resided a greater part of her early life after her marriage to John Hedges in Clear Creek Township. She was the mother of two sons who became famous musicians playing before royalty in England and also winning acclaim in France, following their successes in this country. Mr. and Mrs. Hedges traveled with them both here and abroad. Mrs. Hedges had made her home in Colfax for a number of years.

No immediate members of her family survive, aside from a grand daughter Marjorie in France. Besides the friend in California whom she was visiting at the time of her final illness there is a half brother Carl White of Washington and a niece-in-law, W. A. Dawson of Columbus, Ohio, who is now in Colfax and Prairie City and will look after funeral services, who survive.

The husband and twin sons and the famous musicians Fred and Elven, one buried in England and the other in France, preceded her in death.

The body left California Tuesday for Colfax and pending its arrival funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday afternoon from the Bumgardner Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery.
