Grace R. Hawkins, 71, of 926 N. 3rd Ave. E., died of cancer, Sunday, July 12 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with Elder Greg Rivers of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints officiating. Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the funeral home where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County will be accepted.
The daughter of James and Adella Miller Keith, she was born Jan. 5, 1927 in Russell. She attended school through the 11th grade.
She married Burl Dean Hawkins June 18, 1945 in Knoxville.
A resident of Newton since 1948, she also lived in Knoxville. Mrs. Hawkins worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronny D. and Carol of Newton and Donny D. and Nancy of Appleton, Wis.; three daughters, Rebecca R. Shafer and Trudy K. Delk, both of Newton and Judy F. Taylor of Olathe, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Logue and Elizabeth McGeel, both of Newton and Mary “Polley” Sanders of Atkins; a brother, Glen Keith of Gordon, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, a daughter, two sisters and three brothers.
