Harris, Rachel (Holloway)

Rachel Holloway was born in Knox County, Ohio, August 6, 1810. At the age of 21 she married Abraham Harris, who died many years ago. Till 1854 she lived in Ohio. In October of that year she came to Jasper County, where she lived until the end, the last twelve years living in her own home in East Newton, where she died Saturday, March 16, 1895, at 1 p. m. She was for many years a Baptist, but of late years has been connected with the Christian Church in Newton. Her funeral was conducted by Rev. Sumner T. Martin, pastor of the Christian Church, at 1:30 p. m., Sunday, March 17. She leaves two sons in Newton, whose sorrow is assuaged by their mother's noble Christian life and peaceful and triumphant death.

Murphy - Mrs. Harris, of Newton was buried in the Adamson Grove Cemetery last Sunday afternoon. ~ The Newton (IA) Record, Friday, March 22, 1895, Page 6, Column 1
