Monroe, Iowa 50170Dorothy Lucille Mullins, age 94 of Monroe, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Jefferson Place in Pella. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe United Methodist Church or the Monroe Fire Department. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com
The daughter of John and Katie (Zylstra) Gezel, Dorothy was born on October 5, 1925 in rural Pella. Dorothy attended country schools at Bunker Hill, Bell and Plaine View. On May 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to R. Dale Mullins in Monroe. Dorothy was a homemaker but also painted, hung wallpaper, cleaned and was a seed corn sorter. She attended the 3rd Reformed Church in Pella, Tool's Chapel Methodist, Monroe United Methodist and Heartland Reformed Church. She was involved with Tool's Chapel LCA, Forever Young in Monroe and her favorite the neighborhood card group.
Those left to honor her memory include her children; Delwin "Moon" (Jane) Mullins and Diana (Doug) Gumm, three grandchildren; Amy (Shawn) Pratt, Matt (Kerry) Gumm and Brian (Erin) Gumm; seven great grandchildren, Shelby, Camryn, Sam, Noah, Elijah, Madeline and Lauren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, husband, Dale in 1992, seven siblings, Maggie Van Roekel, Minnie Birkenholtz, Grace Boral, Ann Hendricks, Katherine Rozenberg, Elmo Gezel and Gary Gezel and a sister-in-law, Geraldine Nolin. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Monroe, Iowa 08 Nov 2019.
