May 27, 1897, at 8 p. m. He was united in marriage to Sarah Maudru March 24th, 1854, at Was born in Canton Thann, France June 17, 1833 and died at his home near Vandalia Harrisburg, Ohio. To this union were born twelve children, ten of whom survive him, and who were with him during his last illness. In 1870 he came to Iowa, where he has since lived. When the war broke out he enlisted as a volunteer in an Indiana regiment where he served until the close of the war. The bereaved family have our fullest sympathy in their hour of trial.
