Gilkison, Steven E.

Steven E. Gilkison, 17, of 1111 N. 11th Ave. E. died Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton from injuries received in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. A. B. Sudbrock of Newton Baptist Temple officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Cemetery in Newton. Friends may call today at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Edward R. Gilkison and Melissa A. Nichol, he was born April 21, 1984, in Iowa City. He was a junior at Basics and Beyond High School in Newton and was a member of the Newton Baptist Temple.

Survivors include his parents, both of Newton; a sister, Brandy Gilkison of Newton; a brother, Travis Nichol of Newton; a half-sister, Julie Gilkison of Massachusetts; a half-brother, Michael Gilkison of Massachusetts; his grandparents, Gary and Dodie Nichol and Ed and Lois Gilkison, all of Newton, and paternal great-grandparents, Leslie and Darlene Martin of Colfax.
