FRIDAY SERVICES SET HERE FOR FENTON FOSTER

Fenton A. Foster, 83, of 1018 Park St., died Wednesday morning at a local hospital following an illness of two weeks.

Requiem Low Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic church with the Rev. Leo V. Kuebrich, pastor, officiating. Pallbearers will be Jack Collum, Pierce Comerford, Don Cunningham, John Hotchkin, Raymond Schmitz, and Charles Vogel.

The Rosary will be recited at 8:15 p.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary section of Hazelwood cemetery. He was one of a family of 11 children born to Benjamin W. and Anna Marie Burch Foster and was born in Scott county, Iowa, on Dec. 29, 1883. When he was a young boy he moved with his parents to a farm north of Grinnell and attended the rural schools in Chester township.

On Nov. 14, 1907, he was united in marriage in Grinnell with Lena Harter by the Rev. James Curtin, pastor of St. Columbanus Catholic church. Since then Mr. and Mrs. Foster enjoyed over 59 years of marriage. To them were born four children: Paul Foster of Gilman, John Foster of Palmdale, Calif., Miss Margaret Foster of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Lyle (Marie) Wertz of Laurel.

Mr. and Mrs. Foster farmed in Chester township, near Newburg, for 37 years before moving to Grinnell and retirement in November 1933. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Grinnell.

Survivors include his widow, Lena; his four children; and seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Ray, Roy, and Clarence Foster, all of Grinnell; and a sister, Mrs. W. J. (Elsie) Erwin of Marshalltown; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Mrs. Angie Clindinin, Mrs. Fannie Huff, Mrs. Hattie Mae Chenoweth, Mrs. Grace Harter, and two brothers; Earl Foster and Ralph Foster.
