At the age of about thirteen years he was received into church fellowship by the rite of Confirmation in the Lutheran Church in Bedford County, Pa. April 26, 1859, he united in marriage with Dorotha Schwappach. In 1864 they came to Henry County, Ill., and in 1869 to near Killduff, Jasper County, Iowa, where he resided till his death. He died at 10:10 p. m., April 12, 1895, aged 68 years, 4 months and 10 days. He leaves a wife, four sons and four daughters, with many neighbors and friends to mourn his departure.
