The Newton (IA) Journal Wednesday, Aug. 1, 1894

Mrs. Lodemia Ellis, aged 87 years, peacefully passed away last Friday morning, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Kilgore, with whom she has been living for the past two years.

Mrs. Kilgore and son Orville took the body to Lawrence, Kansas, where Mrs. E.'s people nearly all live. They started Friday afternoon on the Central and reached their destination Saturday morning.

Mrs. Lodemia Ellis, mother of Mrs. Jesse Kilgore, departed this life at the residence of her daughter on Friday morning, after an illness of only two days. Deceased was 87 years of age and had resided in this city for the past two years. Short services were held at the house, Rev. Nasmith officiating, Friday, an the same afternoon the remains were taken to Lawrence, Kansas, for interment, accompanied by Mrs. Kilgore and her son, Orville.
