Berniece C. Davis, 84, of rural Newton died of a heart attack Thursday, Nov. 1, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services were held today at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Morris Hurd of Pleasant View United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Slagel Cemetery in rural Newton.

Memorials will be accepted to the Pleasant View United Methodist Church.

The daughter of Terry and Emma Stifter Enquist, Sr., she was born Feb. 9, 1917, in Minneapolis, Minn. She graduated from East High School in 1935. On March 12, 1939, she married Lester E. Davis in Des Moines. She was a homemaker and farmer's wife and had lived in rural Newton since 1939. Mrs. Davis was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church and the Women's Bowling League.

Survivors include her husband, a son and daughter-in-law, David and Sandy of Cumming, two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Murray Dammeier and Shirleyanne and Chuck Wagoner, all of Newton, 10 grandchildren: four great-grand-children, a brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Florence Enquist of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
