Obituary
Daly, Hattie May (Harp)

Mrs. Richard Daly died at her home in Newton, at eleven o'clock, Monday evening, August 19th, 1895.

Hattie May Harp was born in Red Rock, Marion County, Iowa, Sept. 11, 1863. She was married to Richard Daly, February 2nd, 1887, and to them one child was born.

She had been ill for a long time suffering from a complication of diseases and death was to her a merciful relief.

Death is an unwelcome visitor in any home, but when, as in this case, a young wife and mother is taken, it is doubly sad. A home bereft of the one who made it the dearest spot on earth; from the husband is taken the companion with whom he hoped to walk to the end of life's journey; the child has lost the truest earthly friend that mortals can have.

The funeral was held at the Christian Church at three o'clock Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Sumner T. Martin, pastor of the deceased.

Mrs. Daly was a consistent member of the Christian Church; she also belonged to the Eastern Stars. This order and also the Masonic, to which her husband belonged, attended the funeral in a body. The K. T. Band, of which Mr. Daly was leader, was also in attendance. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful.
