MARSHALLTOWN -- Evelyn "Jody" Cupp, 70, of Marshalltown, formerly of Newton, died of complications from a stroke Thursday, July 19, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be Monday at 12:30 at Pence Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at Metz Cemetery in rural Newton.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home where family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Newton V.F.W. Post #1655 Ladies Auxiliary.

The daughter of Bert and Mary Hewitt McGee, she was born March 18, 1931, in Knoxville. On July 19, 1947, she married Charlie Cupp in Ballinger, Texas. Mrs. Cupp lived in Newton since 1948, was a homemaker, a former Girl Scout leader, a member of V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary Post #1655, and a member of the Church of God. She enjoyed craftwork.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Charles of Des Moines; two daughters, Shellie Cupp-Jones and Lorrie Cupp, both of Newton; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Letha Koopman of Fackler, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, and a sister.
