John French received a message from Stuart Saturday conveying the sad news of the death of Mrs. Carrie Payton Crew, his granddaughter. Mrs. Crew was raised to womanhood near Prairie City. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Payton who lived for many years east of town on what is known still as the Payton farm. She leaves a husband and two children.
