DEATH CLAIMS GOOD CITIZEN
Elias Creed Passed Away Friday at 8 A.M.
Creed, EliasLast Friday morning Elias Creed, who has been sick for several months, quietly passed away about eight o’clock in the morning. While his death was not entirely unexpected, yet the news was a shock to his many friends here. Last summer he went to Des Moines for an operation, but the doctors, after an examination, gave him little hope, but he came home and for a time seemed to improve to a certain extent. It was hoped for a time that he would recover, but this summer he has seemed worse at times, and since moving to town recently, he has failed until the time of his death. He will be greatly missed in the community, and the family have the sympathy of the entire neighborhood.
William Elias Creed was born October 3, 1849, in Morgan County, Illinois, and departed this life November 19, 1909, at his home in Lynnville, Iowa, being fifty years, one month, and fifteen days old.
He moved to Jasper County, Iowa, when he was five years old and settled near Lynnville, and has resided here ever since. He was married to Miss Emma Borrell October 30, 1879. To this union was born one son, Frank A. Creed.
Elias was a son of Samuel and Jane Creed, who, with his wife, son and one sister, are left to mourn his loss.
He was an obedient son, a loving husband and father, and a quiet, peaceable neighbor. He has been a long and patient sufferer, and passed quietly away to his eternal home.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church, Sunday at 2:00 p.m. conducted by W. P. Robertson, assisted by Revs. Hanson and Phoutz. Interment was at Woodland Cemetery.
When the moon is old
And the stars are cold.
And the books of the judgment day unfold.
One God, one law, one element,
And one far off divine event.Originally submitted on Fri May 31 10:00:20 2002 by Christy Jay, Jaygenie@aol.com
