Harvey Harris Jackson, Sr., 77, of 1916 1st Ave. E., a resident of Newton for 60 years, died Sunday at the University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
Friends may call at 720 N. 9th Ave. e to visit with the family.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothea; three sons, Harvey Harris Jackson Jr. of Newton, Robert Dey Jackson of Des Moines and Thomas Michael Jackson of Newton, two daughters, Helen Joan Jackson of Los Angeles, Calif., and Dorothea Marchelle Jackson of Nashville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, April Elizabeth Bennett Jan. 27, 1983 and 13 brothers and sisters.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Des Moines.
Mr. Jackson was a guard at the Maytag Co. prior to his retirement.
The son of Moses and Lucy Hughes Jackson, he was born Nov. 17, 1907 in Milan, Mo., and attended Milan schools.
He was married to Dorothea Banks Jan. 24, 1937 in Newton.
