It is in great sadness that the family of Kathryn Eileen announces her passing Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Kathryn will be lovingly remembered by her children, Mark (Beth), Mike (Irene), Mitch, Matt, Marti (Joyce), Mary Jo, Marsha and Micky.
Kathryn will also be remembered by her 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Kathryn was born June 28, 1935, to Wayne and Maude Cowles. Kathryn married Robert William McLain June 2, 1956, in Leon. They were happily married for almost 50 years before she lost her beloved husband in 2006.
Kathryn was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax for many years. She particularly enjoyed teaching the confirmation class and putting on a carnival for the Faith Formation students. Kathryn lived her life sharing her faith. Kathryn was always caring for her family or someone in need. She was a hospice volunteer for several years with Every Step Hospice.
Kathryn will be remembered for her family dinners and birthday cakes. She loved warm weather so she could sleep outside in a tent. Kathryn loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Maude Cowles; her husband, Robert William McLain; her son Monte Robert; her brother, Eldon Eugene Cowles; and sister, Evelyn Irene Cowles.
A funeral service for Kathryn was Saturday, March 9 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Colfax.
In accordance to the family’s wishes, memorials may be made out to Every Step Hospice and Covenant House in Kathryn’s memory.
