Kenneth Hughes, 84, a longtime resident of the Prairie City area died Saturday, March 13, 1993, at Des Moines General Hospital.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 17 at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.
Marvin Ingle conducted the services.
Survivors are his wife, Florence, three sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Betty of Knoxville, Donald and Miriam of Auburn, Nebraska and Charles of Tipton; three daughters and sons-in-laws, Donna and Archie Willis of Weston, Missouri, Shirley and Bill Tuttle of Des Moines and Carolyn and Jim Jones in Indianola; a step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Gary and Gwen Miller of Pleasantville; a step-daughter-in-law, Barbara and Richard Owen of Indianapolis, Indiana; 18 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Lena Crane of Pleasantville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Olive, a daughter, Phyllis, and a brother, Cameron.
Mr. Hughes was a member of the Vandalia Church of Christ. He farmed and was weight-master at the Farmers Grain Dealers Association in Des Moines and Avon.
The son of Charles Roach and Harriet Izora Reed Hughes, he was born July 13, 1908 at Percy.
He was married to Olive Kain February 14, 1929. Following her death in 1976, he was married to Florence Templeton Miller on November 29, 1982 at Vandalia.
