OLIVER BRIGGS PASSES AWAY

Oliver C. Briggs, eldest child of Charles and Ada Wildman Briggs was born in Chase County, Nebraska, December 16, 1889. When about one year old the family moved to New Sharon, Iowa, where they continued to reside until 1897, when they came to Lynnville, which was his home continually until his death.

Oliver was never strong, yet he was always active and alert, one with whom you liked to deal because of his courteous treatment.

Sixteen weeks ago he consulted the physician about his condition which gradually grew worse until his death, which came after much suffering, borne without complaint, June 27, 1914. Aged 24 years, 6 months and 11 days.

His mother preceded him in 1905.

The funeral service was held form the Friends Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Z. H. Doan and the sermon was preached by Rev. F. H. Hanson of Le Grand, a former pastor. The funeral was largely attended and the floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.

The choir, consisted of Mrs. E. M. Carey, Mrs. Will Allee, A. T. Gifford and C. H. Potter, with Miss Beulah Renaud as accompanist, sang some of Oliver’s favorite hymns.

Interment in the family burying ground in the Friends Cemetery.

The pallbearers were: Bertha, Lena, Larena and Edna Briggs, Mabel Brush and Marie Russell, all cousins of the deceased.
