Funeral Services Set Friday For Mrs. Eva Breeden
Funeral services for Eva Whitcomb Breeden, 90, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. Mrs. Breeden died Tuesady evening at a local hospital following an extended illness.Officiating will be the Rev. Helen B. Turner. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery near Newburg.
The daughter of Philo A. and Sarah Lamphere Whitcomb, she was born on Oct. 23rd. 1870, in Warren county. At an early age she moved with her parents to Jasper county and attended the rural schools in Rock Creek Township.
She was married to John Asher Breeden on May 23rd. 1894. To this union four children were born: Forrest, who died in infancy; Mrs. Oliver (Inez) Milgate of Grinnell; Carl of Newark, Mo.; and Lloyd of Manchester.
After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Breeden began farming in the Newburg community and continued farming until 1920 when they moved to Newburg.
Mrs. Breeden continued to live there until 1959 when she made her home with her daughter in Grinnell.
She was member of the Mount Pleasant Methodist Church of rural Newburg.
In addition to her three children, she is survived by 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and her sister Mrs. Belle Wilkins of Grinnell.
Mrs. Breeden was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1939; her son, Forrest; her sister, Lula Whitcomb, a brother, Elmer Whitcomb; a foster brother, John Breeden, and one great grandchild.

Note: I am sure there is a mistake in the obituary in that a foster brother was not John Breeden. That was her husband.
Note:I know Eva Beeden died January 17, 1961, in Grinnell, but don't know when her obituary was published.
