MORRISTOWN, Tenn. -- Jewel Walls, 85, of Morristown, Tenn., formerly of Newton, died Sunday, May 30, in Morristown.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery prior to the start of the service. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
The daughter of Douglas and Nettie (Crooks) Williams, she was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Blanket, Texas. On Jan. 13, 1933, she married Andrew Jack Walls in Ira, Texas. She worked in cotton fields and in a cotton mill in Texas for 37 years. She worked at Skiff Medical Center in housekeeping for 12 years and retired in 1973. She was a member of Assembly of God Church and enjoyed going to the church's women's meetings with her friend Marion Suptin. She lived in Newton from 1962 until moving to Morristown, Tenn., in 1999.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Ruth Walls of Post, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Mark Trimm of Morristown, Texas; 56 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jesse Linthicum of San Angelo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Wayne and Edger (in infancy); a daughter, Betty James; and three brothers, J. Lee "Slick," Shine and Lloyd Williams. ~ Newton Daily News, Wednesday, June 2, 2004
