PRAIRIE CITY -- Georgia M. Berkenbosch, 72, of Prairie City, died Sunday, June 6, at Mitchell Village in Mitchellville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prairie City Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at Griffis Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 2 until 8 p.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Georgia M. Berkenbosch Memorial Fund.

The daughter of George and Mary Ellen (Warnock) Hutchinson, she was born May 31, 1932. She graduated from Woodside High School. On Dec. 12, 1954, she married Dale Berkenbosch at the Marquisville E.U.B. Church in Des Moines. She worked for Clearview Manor in Prairie City, and later was employed by Generations Inc. in Des Moines.

Mrs. Berkenbosch was a member of Mother's Club and Church of the Brethren Women's Fellowship. She became a deacon of her church in the mid 1970s. She taught Sunday School, worked as a Disaster Child Care Response volunteer and went on work trips to Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Heidi M. and Janet M.; one son, Randy A.; two sisters; Jeanette Charles and Mary Ann Chittick, a sister-in-law; Betty Hutchinson, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Paul Hutchinson and Reid Hutchinson. ~ Newton Daily News, Newton, IA, Tuesday, June 8, 2004
