LYNNVILLE -- Lucile Sparks, 93, of Lynnville died Sunday, Aug. 22, at the Sigourney Care Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Lynnville Friends Church with the Rev. Jeff Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville. Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon is handling arrangements.
Visiting hours will begin after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in her name.The daughter of Ed and Myrtle (Elliott) Sparks, she was born Sept. 3, 1910, in rural Sully. A 1928 graduate of Lynnville High School, she had worked for many years in the Lynnville Drug Store and was also the librarian at the Lynnville Library. She was a member of the Lynnville Friends Church, where she had taught Sunday School, and was a charter member of the Lynnville Historical Society. She enjoyed cutting quilt blocks and was an avid genealogist who enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Alice Sparks of Lynnville and Ed and Wilma Sparks of Newton; her sister, Edna Copeland of Sigourney; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Sparks of Newton and Velma Sparks of Montezuma; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elsie Sparks; three brothers, Millard, Kenneth and Floyd Sparks; a sister-in-law, Blanche Sparks, a brother-in-law, Roy Copeland; and two nephews. ~ Newton (IA) Daily News, Tuesday, August 24, 2004
