PELLA -- Pauline Rietveld, 75, of Pella died Wednesday, June 30, at the Sheltered Care Unit of the Pella Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Reformed Church in Pella. Burial will be at T'Lam Cemetery in Pella. Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements.

Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6:30 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted to Bethel Mission.

The daughter of Gerrit and Tina (DeGoey) Kamerick, she was born Feb. 7, 1929, in Pella. She grew up in the Pella area and attended Amsterdam School through eighth grade. On June 16, 1948, she was united in marriage with Fredrick Rietveld at the First Reformed Church Parsonage in Pella.

Mrs. Rietveld and her husband were charter members of Trinity Reformed Church in Pella, where she was active in the Ladies' Circle, taught Sunday school, directed the children's choir and sang in the choir. She also sang live on Saturday evenings for KRNT radio station and for Bethel Mission. Mrs. Rietveld enjoyed quilting, "garage-saling," spending time at her cabin, bird watching and spending time with her dog.

Survivors include her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carla and Dale Klyn of Corydon, Nora of Pella and Joy and Roger Eklofe of Pella; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred Jr. and Beverly of Pella and Bruce and Kim of Knoxville; a sister, Geraldine Van Kalkeren of Pella; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Rueben, Gilbert, James and Floyd Kamerick; three sisters, Josie Steenhoek, Cora Mae Warner and Wilma Mathes; and a granddaughter, Carol Joosten. ~ Newton Daily News, Saturday, July 3, 2004
