LOSE, GASPERSON, STOCKTON

MONROE -- Lea Lose, 52, of Monroe died Tuesday, July 27, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church with the Rev. Duane Skidmore officiating. Burial will be at Gifford Cemetery in rural Monroe.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Lea Lose Memorial Fund and may be dropped off at the funeral home in Monroe.

The daughter of Willis and Billie (Stockton) Gasperson, she was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Monet, Mo. On April 19, 1977, she married Michael Lose in Des Moines. She was a member of the Killduff United Methodist Church. She owned a quilting business where she taught classes and also belonged to several quilting guilds.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jesse Lose of Maryland and Matt Lose of Monroe; a grandson and a granddaughter; her parents, Willis and Billie of Kansas; maternal grandmother, Faye Stockton of Missouri; two sisters, Terri of Kansas and Cheryl of Minnesota; and seven nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Opal and Bill Gasperson, and maternal grandfather, General Stockton. ~ Newton (IA) Daily News, Wednesday, July 28, 2004
