Marks Funeral Services Held
Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Marks, who died Thursday morning at 9 o’clock at the home of her son Alfred marks, were held Sunday afternoon from the Alfred marks residence.
Dr. G C. Williams, pastor of the Congregational church, had charge of the services and burial was made in the Newton Union cemetery.
Josephine Barber, who was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Barber, was born in Rochester, Minn., March 29, 1840. Her parents were members of the Catholic church of which she became a member. At the age of 13 years she was united in marriage to Lewis Marks and to this union two children were born, Alfred Marks and Mrs. Laura Marks Young, both of Newton, who survive her.
Mr. Marks died in Des Moines Sept. 1912 and since that time Mrs. Marks has made her home in Newton with her daughter and son.
Out-of-town attendants were Mr. and Mrs. C. Huntzinger, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Vrick, Mrs. Jack Fletcher and Mr. and Mrs. Butler, all of Des Moines.
