John Pearson, 70, Dies Sunday in Iowa City
Colfax – John Pearson, 70, died Sunday at the University hospital in Iowa City, following a major operation.
Mr. Pearson had been in poor health for a number of years, had entered the hospital only three weeks before his death.
Born July 6, 1871, at Frandefors, Sweden, he came to America in 1839, and lived in South Dakota six months before coming to Colfax. He was employed as a coal miner at Oswalt, later was a mine boss, and was promoted to superintendent of the mine.
He was united in marriage to Jessie Pflaum who preceded him in death in 1933.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and I.O.O.F. lodges.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 o’clock at the Colfax Methodist church with the Rev. W. M. Doughty in charge. Burial will be in the family lot in the McKeever cemetery.
He is survived by three children, who have arrived, Mrs. George Orlich (Selma) of Newton, and twin sons, Howard of Dallas, Tex., and Harold of San Francisco, Calif.; also, by a granddaughter, Virginia Pearson of Chicago, who is expected to arrive today.
