Robert James Jennings, age 86 of Prairie City, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Courtyard Estates in Pleasant Hill. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. Burial with military rites will be held at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the church. There will be a Masonic Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Prairie City United Methodist Church or the Prairie City Rescue Association. The son of Harold Lester and Mildred Fern (Neff) Jennings, Robert was born on March 4, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated as Valedictorian of the class of 1950 from Prairie City High School. On April 20, 1952 he was united in marriage to Eunice C. Enyart at the Methodist Church in Prairie City. Robert also proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church, Preston Lodge #218 and served on the school board at the Prairie City School. He was a pilot, enjoyed traveling, dancing, fishing, playing cribbage and most of all being a good steward of the land.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, David Lyle (Shayla) Jennings, Kathlyn Joyce (Michael) Banks, Janice Elaine (Steve) Benson, and Denise Lorraine Jennings; eight grandchildren, Katie (Kevin) O'Neill, Christopher Vaughn, Lisa (James Jr.) Giradeau, Amanda (Kyle) Stoner, Timothy (Hannah) Benson, Autumn (Austin) Brandhof, Austin McGee and Avery McGee; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; his sister, Shirley Enyart; a sister-in-law, Elaine Jennings and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Robert in death were his parents, wife, Eunice in 2018; a granddaughter, Diane Marie Jennings; a brother, Jon Carlton Jennings and a brother-in-law, Gordon Enyart. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Prairie City, Iowa 26 Feb 2019.
