Newton Man Dies at Hospital Following Two-Week Illness of Pneumonia
Robert Stevens, 35, 515 North Third Avenue East, died this morning about 8:30 a.m. at the Skiff Memorial Hospital, following a two-week illness of pneumonia.
Definite funeral arrangements have not been made, although services will probably be held at the Morgan funeral home Monday at 2 p.m.
Mr. Stevens was taken ill Jan. 18, and removed immediately from his home to the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
He was united in marriage to Ida Baker April 18, 1934, and to this union one child, Wilma, was born.
Mr. Stevens had been employed at the Maytag Company for over three years.
Surviving relatives include his wife and daughter, Wilma, 2; a step-son, Donald, 6; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stevens, 505 North Third Avenue West.
He is also survived by a sister, Florence of Newton, and nine brothers, Elmer, Clarence, Bert, Milo, Claude, Fred, Joseph, and Alva, all of Newton, and Tommy of Blakesburg, Ia.

Hold Rites for Robert Stevens
Services held Monday For Newton Man, 25; Burial in Memorial Park
Funeral services for Robert Stevens, 25, were conducted from the Morgan funeral home Monday at 2 p.m. by Dr. Leslie B. Logan, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Logan and Mrs. Fred Reeve, who sang two duet numbers, “Lead Me O Saviour” and “Jesus Lover of My Soul.” Mrs. Reeve played the accompaniment.
Interment was in Newton Memorial Park, with the following serving as pallbearers; John Stuart, Roy Kennedy, Howard Jones, Chester Cooper, W. W. Barton and Floyd Owens.
Mr. Stevens, Maytag factory employee, died Saturday morning at the Skiff Memorial hospital, following a two-week illness of pneumonia.
Surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. Ida Baker Stevens; a daughter, Wilma; a step-son, Donald; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stevens of Newton; a sister, Florence of Newton, and nine brothers, Tommy of Blakesburg, Ia., and Elmer, Clarence, Bert, Milo, Claude, Fred, Joseph and Alva, all of Newton.
