Pneumonia Fatal to 8-Month-old Youngster Here
Shirley Elaine Sparks, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Sparks, died of pneumonia at 12:30 a.m. today. Funeral services will be held at Toland’s funeral home Thursday at 1 p.m.
Shirley Elaine was born Feb. 7. She is survived by her parents and a brother, Clifford, who live at 330 East Fifth Street North.
Burial will be at the Woodland cemetery in Lynnville.
The baby was scalded by coffee last week, and was apparently recovering when pneumonia set in.

Conduct Rites Thursday For Sparks Baby
Funeral services for Shirley Elaine Sparks, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Sparks, were conducted from the Toland funeral home Thursday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. W. Clark Williams, pastor of the Wittemberg Congregational church.
Mrs. Williams furnished the music for the rites, singing, “Precious Jewel” and “Safe in the Arms of Jesus.” She was accompanied by Wilma Langmaid.
Interment was in Woodland cemetery at Lynnville, with the following serving as pall bearers: Leslie Doak, Raymond Hesson, Elmer Loupee and George Damman.
Mrs. Roland Reed and Mrs. J. P. Rutledge were in charge of the flowers.
The baby died Wednesday morning following an illness of pneumonia.
Surviving relatives include the parents, and a brother, Clifford.
