Hold Rites in Grinnell for Mrs. Sanders
Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Sanders, 86, former Newton resident, were held at her home in Grinnell, Friday, Feb. 26, at 10:00 a.m.
Rev. W. J. Stewart, pastor of the United Presbyterian church of Grinnell, was in charge with Rev. Wilbur Service, pastor of the United Presbyterian church of Viola, Ill., preaching the sermon, Mrs. Service being a niece of Mrs. Sanders. Dr. John W. Bickett of Newton had the closing prayer.
Mrs. Bowman of the Congregational church of Grinnell sang “The City Foursquare” and the “Twenty-Third Psalm.”
Burial was at the Guernsey, Ia., cemetery.
Surviving relatives include four daughters, Mrs. Roy Blackwood of Killduff, Mrs. Lee Daughterty of Guernsey, Mrs. Lottie Rowland of Grinnell, and Mrs. Charles Urfer of Des Moines and two sons, Hugh Sanders of Grinnell, and John Sanders of Des Moines. Her husband preceded her in death eight years ago.
