COLFAX – Charles Ernest Roeder was born in Colfax, Ia., on July 1, 1893. In 1907 he moved with his parents to the farm northwest of Colfax, which has been his home since.
In 1918 he enlisted in the Army and went over seas. On his return he again took up his work on the farm.
Never in very robust health, he became ill about a month ago.
On Nov. 30, he was taken to the Veterans hospital in Des Moines, where he died the next day, Dec. 1, at the age of 44 years and 5 months.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother dying in 1914 and his father in 1923.
He is survived by two brothers Harry Wilbert of Colfax, where he resided, and Frank of St. Cloud, Minn., as well as two nieces and three ___ . (paper torn)
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, Dec. 4 at Cutter-Hartnett funeral chapel with Rev. A. O. Wendelburg of Presbyterian church officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. George Rinker, Mrs. Earl Plummer, John A. Davis, B. F. Van Dyke with Mrs. Cleo Wall at the piano.
The American Legion members acted as pall bearers and had charge of the service at the cemetery.
Burial was made in McKeever cemetery.
