Mrs. Rinehart Dies At 91 Years
Former Newton Resident Dies in Council Bluffs; Burial Here Today
Mrs. Hannah E. Rinehart, 91, former Newton resident died Saturday at Council Bluffs, Ia., as the result of a broken hip suffered in a fall. She was residing with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. O. E. Rinehart, at the time of the accident, and was taken to the Mercy hospital for treatment.
The body was brought to Newton, where funeral services were held today at 2:00 o’clock from the Morgan funeral home with the Rev. W. J. Trimble of the Free Methodist church in charge. Interment was in the Mewton Union cemetery, beside her husband, the late James Steele Rinehart.
Mrs. Rinehart, member of the Daily News’ Three Quarter Century club, lived for many years at 610 North Third Avenue East before going to Council Bluffs in recent years to make her home.
Hannah Elizabeth Needles was born at Maquon, Ill., May 10, 1846, and came to Jasper county, Ia., in 1860.
She was united in marriage to James S. Rinehart Oct. 19, 1862, at Prairie City, and to them four sons were born. She was preceded in death by her husband Jan. 6, 1916, and by two sons, Lonnie in April 23, 1866, and Ora E., who died at Council Bluffs Oct. 5, 1929.
Mrs. Rinehart was a typical pioneer mother, devoted to the manifold household duties in a crude pioneer home. She was a resident of Jasper county 76 years, most of which were spent in Newton.
She had been a member of the Free Methodist church for 57 years.
Surviving relatives include two sons, George Franklin Rinehart of Glendora, Calif., born Feb. 21, 1864, and Charles H. Rinehart of Ozone, Ark., born Aug. 9, 1869.

Rinehart Rites Held in Newton
Services Conducted for 91-Year-old Former Newton Resident
Mrs. Hannah E. Rinehart, 91-year-old former Newton resident, was buried in the Newton Union cemetery Monday afternoon following funeral services at the Morgan funeral home.
Rev. W. J. Trimble, pastor of the Free Methodist church, was in charge of the services.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Vern Longren, who sang, “Shall We Gather at the River” and “I will Meet You in the Morning.” Mrs. William Johnson was the accompanist.
Those serving as pall bearers were J. S. Booton, J. L. Arends, William Johnson, Oscar Runyan, Milo Snodgrass and Alfred Ponder.
Mrs. Rinehart died Saturday in Council Bluffs, where she had made her home in recent years with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. O. E. Rinehart. Death resulted from a broken hip, suffered in a fall.
Mrs. Rinehart was a member of the Free Methodist church for 57 years and was one of the charter members of The Daily News’ Three Quarter Century club.
She was born in Illinois in 1846, and came to Jasper county in 1860, where she spent 76 years of her life.
Surviving relatives include two sons, George Franklin Rinehart of Glendora, Calif., and Charles H. Rinehart of Ozone, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Steele Rinehart, and by two sons, Lonnie and Ora E. Rinehart.
