Thomas Queen, 5, Dies Sunday of Osteomyelitis
Thomas Henry Queen, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Queen, 910 North Seventh Avenue West, died Sunday at 11:15 p.m. at the Skiff Memorial hospital as the result of a two-week illness of Osteomyelitis.
The child suffered with a boil on his leg about a month ago, which resulted in osteomyelitis or inflammation of the bone and its marrow.
A prayer service will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the home in Newton, followed by final rites at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist Episcopal church at New Virginia, Ia. Interment will be in the New Virginia cemetery.
The child was born in Newton July 16, 1932. The mother was Perle McGriff before her marriage.
There are three other children in the home.

Conduct Rites For 5-Year-Old Newton Child
Local rites for Thomas Henry Queen, 5-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Queen, were conducted from the home, 910 North Seventh Avenue West, Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. by Dr. Leslie B. Logan, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church.
Final services were held at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist Episcopal church at New Virginia, Ia., with the Rev. Mr. Moore, pastor, in charge. Interment was in the New Virginia cemetery.
Music for the church rites was furnished by Mrs. Robert Leachman, who sang, “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,” “We Will Say Goodbye Here, But Good Morning in Heaven,” and “Precious Jewels.” She was accompanied by Mrs. Jardine.
Pall bearers were George Kuehl, Frank Verhuel, Forrest Jackson and William Hildebrand, all of Newton, Mrs. O. C. Russell and Mrs. Charles Burt were in charge of the flowers.
The child died at the Skiff hospital Sunday, Aug. 22, as the result of a two-week illness of osteomyelitis, an infection of the bone. A boil on his leg caused the infection.
He was born in Newton, July 16, 1932, the son of Theodore and Pearl Queen.
Surviving relatives are the parents; a brother, Charles; a sister, Ruth Ann; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Queen; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Carrie McGriff, and a great grandmother, Mrs. C. P. McGriff.
