John H. Patton, Former Newton Resident, Dies
John H. Patton, 82, former local resident and father of Jesse Patton of Newton, died Thursday at 1:30 a.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J. G. Dorsey, in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Cuthelbert funeral home in Des Moines Friday at 2:00 p.m., and burial will be beside his wife at the Newton Union cemetery.
Mr. Patton, who was a native of Ohio, came to Newton from North Platte, Neb., in 1916, and was employed here at the Maytag and Automatic companies. His wife preceded him in death 12 years ago today.
Mr. Patton went to Des Moines to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Dorsey, in 1923.
Surviving relatives are the daughter; two sons, Jesse of Newton and C. O., of Los Angeles, Calif., and three grandchildren, Mrs. Guy Stone of Des Moines and Marguerite and Robert Patton of Newton.
