George Kipp, 76, Monroe lawyer, Dies This Noon
Attorney George Kipp, of Monroe, brother of O. B. Kipp of Newton, died about noon today in Monroe. Mr. Kipp had been a lifelong resident of that community.
Members of the immediate family surviving are his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Florence Hetherington of Monroe and Mrs. R. A. Harrison of San Antonio, Tex.
Mr. Kipp would have reached his seventy-seventh year Sunday, Feb. 14.

Rites For Monroe Attorney Friday
Services For George C. Kipp, 76, to Be Held at the Home in Monroe
MONROE – Funeral services for George C. Kipp, 76, prominent Monroe attorney, will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the home in Monroe. Interment will be in the Monroe cemetery.
Mr. Kipp, native resident of Monroe, died at his home there Tuesday about noon.
Mr. Kipp was born Feb. 14, 1860, in Monroe, the son of Jacob and Henrietta (Sheeler) Kipp. He was one of a family of seven children, five of whom preceded him in death.
Law Graduate
After his schooling in Monroe, he attended Iowa State college in Ames, Simpson college in Indianola, and the State University of Iowa in Iowa City. He was graduated from the law school at the university in 1881.
Mr. Kipp spent his entire life in Monroe, with the exception of two years residence at Oakland, Calif.
He was married to Jennie Bennett, and to this union three children were born, two of whom survive. A son died in infancy.
On School Board
Attorney Kipp was formerly a member of the Monroe school board, serving in the capacity of secretary for a number of years. He was also active in the Methodist Episcopal church and taught a Sunday school class for many years.
Mr. Kipp was affiliated with the Jasper County Bar Association, and also with the Monroe Masonic and Eastern Star lodges.
Surviving relatives are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Hetherington of Monroe and Mrs. Faye Harrison of San Antonio, Tex.; five grandchildren and one great grandchild, and a brother, O. B. Kipp of Newton.
The latter will be unable to attend the funeral services because of illness, but his daughter, Mrs. E. L. Mustice, is planning to attend.
