Mrs. Harsha, 56, of Baxter Dies
Farm Woman Dies Late Thursday Afternoon In Des Moines Hospital
BAXTER – Mrs. Roy Harsha, 56, of south of Baxter died Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, following a six-week illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 from the Bethel church and interment will be in the Bethel cemetery.
Mrs. Harsha, daughter of late Eli Westbrook and Mrs. E. H. Westbrook, was born May 11, 1881.
Surviving relatives include her husband; three sons, Blaine of Baxter, Wayne of Mingo and Edwin, at home; one daughter Mrs. Oma Gardner of Rhodes; her mother, Mrs. Westbrook of southwest of Baxter; one sister, Mrs. Elmer Berry of near Baxter and one brother, Arthur Westbrook of Park Rapids, Minn.
Mrs. Harsha was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal church.

BAXTER – Mary Elizabeth Westbrook, better known to her friends as Mollie, was born in Washington county, Ohio, May 11, 1881, and moved to Iowa with her parents at the age of four years.
She was united in marriage Aug. 2, 1899 to Roy Harsha, and to this union five children were born. Nellie, the oldest, preceded her mother in death in 1914.
Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Fred Gardener, three sons, Wayne, Blaine and Edwin; also her mother, Mrs. Euretta Westbrook, a brother Arthur of Park Ridge, Minn., and a sister, Mrs. Elmer Berry of Baxter. There are nine grandchildren, five nieces, and three nephews.
Mrs. Harsha has been a loyal member of the Bethel Wesleyan Methodist church for many years, a member of the Newton auxiliary of Spanish American War Veterans.
Her health became impaired last summer and after other efforts failed was taken to the Methodist hospital in Des Moines where she died Thursday, Sept. 30, at the age of 56 years, 4 month and 19 days.
Funeral services were conducted from the Bethel Wesleyan Methodist church, west of Baxter by the Rev. W. R. Emerson, of Charles City, Iowa.
Music was furnished by Mrs. C. F. Weeks, Mrs. A. J. Dodd, G. T. Hardenburg and Dwight Hunt, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Esch. Songs used were “The City Four Square,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “In the Garden.”
Serving as pall bearers were Wayne Harsha, Blaine Harsha, Edwin Harsha, Fred Gardener, Donald Gleaves and Norvell Koon.
