Mrs. Gearhart Dies in Newton
Metz Woman Dies Unexpectedly Thursday From a Heart Attack
METZ – Mrs. Louis C. Gearhart, 59, wife of a Maytag factory employee, died Thursday at 3:40 p.m. at the Skiff Memorial hospital as the result of a heart attack.
Mrs. Gearhart was recovering from an illness of pneumonia when the attack occurred and was expecting to be released from the hospital Saturday. She had suffered with heart trouble previous to her illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from the Metz church and interment will be in the Sugar Grove cemetery.
She was born as Martha Lucas in Hoopeston, Ill., and was married to a Mr. Ellis, who was killed accidentally shortly after the marriage.
Twenty-nine years ago, she was united in marriage to Mr. Gearhart, and they spent most of their married life in Metz.
Mr. Gearhart has been employed at the Maytag factory in Newton for over 10 years.

Funeral Services Conducted For Mrs. Gearhart
METZ – Funeral services for Mrs. Louis C. Gearhart, 59, were conducted from the Metz church Sunday at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. Daniel Buser, pastor of the Newton Foursquare Gospel church.
John Hitchler, Mrs. Roy Baty and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Edwards furnished the music, singing, “Nearer My God to Thee,” “In the Garden,” and “I’ve Anchored My Soul in the Haven of Rest.” Maxine Emmack played the accompaniment.
Burial was made in the Sugar Grove cemetery, with the following serving as pall bearers; Pearl Hough, Cleo Hood, Clarence Tratchel, William Bales, William Townsend and Charles Luscombe.
Those attending from a distance were Mrs. Ann Hummel, August Kletteing, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Kletteing and John Stuart of Colfax, Mrs. John Lynn of Mingo and Mrs. Roy Johnson of Monroe.
Mrs. Gearhart died Thursday at the Skiff Memorial hospital as the result of a heart attack. A sufferer of heart trouble, Mrs. Gearhart was recovering from an illness of pneumonia when the attack occurred.
She is survived by her husband, who is employed in the Maytag factory in Newton.
