George Dearth Dies Sunday
Funeral Services to be Held at Monroe Church Tuesday Afternoon
MONROE – George M. Dearth, 75, died here Sunday at 10:50 a.m., following a short illness.
Mr. Dearth was a retired business man and banker. He had been manager of the Polk-Hippey coal mines and farms in Marion, Polk and Jasper counties.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Monroe Methodist Episcopal church. Burial will be in Monroe cemetery. The Masonic rites will be given at the grave.
Mr. Dearth, a long-time resident of Monroe, was born in Indianola and was formerly in business at Dunreath, Ia.
Surviving relatives include his wife; a sister, Alice Dearth of Monroe, and a brother, F. I. Dearth of St. Paul, Minn. A son, Arthur, preceded him in death.
Mrs. W. H. Meek of Newton is a niece of Mrs. Dearth and Mrs. W. H. Huffman and R. H. Thompson are grandniece and grandnephew of Mrs. Dearth.
