Mrs. Davis of Lynnville Dies
Lynnville Woman, 59, Dies Monday Following Lingering Illness
LYNNVILLE – Mrs. Ed Davis, 59, long-time resident of Jasper and Mahaska counties, died Monday at 8:40 a.m., following a year’s illness. Death was due to complication of diseases.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Friends church Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. by the pastor, Rev. George Wood, assisted by Rev. Ermin Perisho. Interment will be in the Friends cemetery.
Mrs. Davis was born at Sheffield, Ia., March 24, 1878, and moved to Mahaska county when a child.
She was married to Weldon D. Sefrit in 1895 and to this union one son, Leo B., was born.
Later, she was united in marriage to Ed Davis, who adopted the son, Leo.
Besides her husband and son, she is survived by two grandsons, Raycliffe and Craig Davis, two brothers, L. C. Beatty of Lynnville and Warren Steen of New Sharon and three sisters, Mrs. James Ingle of Riverton, Wyo., Mrs. G. M. Stanley of Gilman and Mrs. Chester Van Cleve of New Sharon.

LYNNVILLE – Lelia Rose Beatty, daughter of Braddock and Josephine Beatty, was born in Sheffield, Ia., March 24, 1878 and died at her home in Lynnville, October 4, 1937, age 59 years, 6 months and 10 days.
In her early childhood she moved with her family to Earlham, Ia., where they lived a short time. From there the family moved to New Sharon, Ia., where she grew to womanhood.
On June 22, 1895 she was married to Weldon D. Sefrit of New Sharon. To this union one son, Leo B., was born.
On November 28, 1901, she was united in marriage to Edgar E. Davis of Searsboro, who adopted Leo.
In early womanhood she was converted and joined the Methodist church in Taintor, later affiliating with the Friends church.
She was a teacher in the Sunday school for many years. At the time of her recent illness and death she was superintendent of the primary department in the Friends Sunday school.
She leaves besides her husband, and son, two grandsons, Raycliffe and Craig Davis, one brother, T. C. Beatty of Lynnville, one sister, Mrs. James Ingle of Riverton, Wyo., two half-sisters, Mrs. G. M. Stanley of Gilman and Mrs. Chester Van Cleave of New Sharon, and one half-brother, Warren Steen, of New Sharon.
Services were held at the Friends church Wednesday, Oct. 6, conducted by Rev. George Wood with Rev. Ermin Perisho assisting.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Charles Wagaman and Mrs. Harvey Gause, who sang “No Night There,” “Shadows” and “Sweetly Resting.” Mrs. A. F. Quire was accompanist.
Floral pieces were arranged by Mrs. Lucy Beyer, Mrs. Gus Ables and Mrs. Roscoe Sparks.
Interment was in the Friends cemetery with Charles Davis of Grinnell, Jack Davis of Montezuma, Fred Davis of Des Moines, and Otis, Howard and Kelly Davis of Searsboro as pallbearers.

Stanley, Marion and Wendell of Gilman, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Chadwick of Marshalltown, Mrs. Charles Harvey of Le Grand, Mrs. Everett Emert and Charles Davis of Grinnell, Mrs. Emmett Franklin and Mrs. Leah Mains of Oskaloosa, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Davis of Montezuma, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Van Cleave, Doris and Geraldine, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Steen and Betty, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Steen, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ladd of New Sharon, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Davis and Lucile Davis of Searsboro and Mrs. Jennie Brown and daughter of Grinnell.
