COLFAX – Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 1, at Cutler-Hartnett Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Ray Burns, Rev. Al DeGroot of Eddyville, Ia., officiated at the service.
Laura Irene Bailey, daughter of George and Hattie Bailey was born June 6, 1906 near Maxwell, Ia., and died at her home in Colfax, Ia., Nov. 28, 1937, at the age of 31 years, 4 months and 22 days.
At the age of four months, she moved with her parents to Oklahoma, and after living there four years, the family returned to Jasper county where she continued to make her home.
On June 11, 1924, she was united in marriage to Ray Burns and they lived all their married life in Colfax. To this union three children were born, Calvin Paul 9, Donna Rae 3, and Madeline 16 months, who with the husband survive.
Besides the husband and children she is survived by her father, George Bailey of Colfax, one brother, Perry Halley of Davenport, four sisters, Mrs. Clarence Osborn of Ira, Mrs. Ben Brown of Colfax, Mrs. Walter Lindsey of Mingo and Mattie Bailey at home, and her grandmother, Mrs. Jane Bailey of Mingo.
She was preceded in death by her mother, two brothers and one sister.
Pall bearers were: Billy Plummer, Emmett Wormeth, Royal Cross, Bert Humphreys, Jack Humphreys and Cecil Adams.
Burial was made in the Mitchellville cemetery.
