John C. Bulfer of Laurel Dies
Funeral Services Held Today From Home of 82-Year-Old Resident
LAUREL, IA – Funeral services for John C. Bulfer, 82, were to be held here this afternoon from the home and later from the Evangelical Church. Services at the home were to begin at 1:30 o’clock and burial was to be in Graceland Cemetery.
Mr. Bulfer died early Thursday morning at the Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown.
John C. Bulfer was born in Bureau County, Ill., Dec. 24, 1854 and came to Jasper County to make his home when he was 13 years old. For 36 years he was engaged in farming and at one time he was engaged in the hardware business.
He was a member of the Daily News’ Three-Quarter Century club.
Immediate surviving relatives are his widow, a son, C. F. Bulfer of Ft. Collins, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. R. S. Warren of Marshalltown; two brothers, Philip Bulfer of Chicago, Ill., and Joe Bulfer of Laurel and a step-son, Fred Wulf of Marshalltown.

LAUREL – Funeral services for J. C. Bulfer were held Saturday afternoon, Jan. 2, from the Evangelical Church with Rev. A. W. Schlesselman in charge, assisted by Rev. V. S. Williams of the Methodist church. Short services were held at the home at 1:30, followed by final rites at 3:30 at the church.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Donald Mann and Mrs. Harold Brown, with Mrs. Fred Schnathorst, at the piano.
Pallbearers were William Stewart, John McMahon, R. E. Lingquist, F. Pease, C. F. Toedt, and H. A. Weissenburger. The flowers were arranged by Mrs. John Fehrman, Mrs. John Bollhoefer, Mrs. F. C. Fuhrow, Mrs. A. Bottnen, Mrs. Etta Paul, and Mrs. Leon Will. Burial was made in the Graceland Cemetery, west of Laurel.
Those attending from a distance were Simon Muller, Melbourne; Carl Bollhoefer, Newton; Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Warren, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Marren, Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Warren, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wulf, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Paul, Mrs. Leon will, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klaunburg, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bigelow, and Leila and Eunice Blackburn, of Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. George Adkins of Grinnell, and William Feldschneider, of St. Anthony, and a large number of friends from Vancleve, Newburg, and Gilman.
